new c64 trak….

April 28, 2009

Well I’m working on this c64 track…its a cover of a…popular russian folk song maybe? I can’t figure it out, Dubmood and Slam
have also covered it. If anyone knows what the heck this song is let me know. I switched back to the SDI editor from JCH, mainly
because I own a NTSC c64 and SDI allows you to select from a PAL or NTSC frequency table. I wanna get a PAL c64 some day so I
can watch all the cool demos rararararar…

Anyway here is the track —> In russia, vodka drinks you

interesting new netlabel

April 20, 2009

http://gosub10.org is a new netlabel that is dedicated to releasing music that has been produced with open-source software. An interesting concept….they only have one release so far, a compilation. Most of it is spacey, ambient-y, noise-y stuff, although there is a chippy sounding song at the end. There is one group 0xA, that produces their music by sharing PureData patches through a git repository :)

This label is closely related to the open-source collective goto10.org, which also appears to have something to do with rastasoft….

lesser known module formats

April 10, 2009

Well at least in the world of 8bc and gameboy music…it seems not alot of people have heard of tracker and Hively Tracker for the amiga! There are alot of great tunes in .ahx and .hvl format! AHX was written originally to create a SID-like sound on the amiga. In other words, its an early soft-synth of sorts! It has four channels, and all the SID waveforms are supported, and it has filters too I believe. HivelyTracker is sort of an extended version, supporting up to 16 channels!

You can listen to .ahx and .hvl with XMplay or winamp on windows! Just find the plugins.

If you have linux i would get this command line replayer!

OS X, go with audio overload!
